Well that says a lot about you. You want to rant and rave on hear like you are the ultimate authority, yet when someone asks you a question, you hid behind people like me are not going to listen.

And you continue to dodge an explanation of why U.S. Xpress has had the same number of drivers for over a year and a half despite hiring hundreds of CDL mills grads . I don't rant and never said I was any type of authority . I post documented FACTS which are indisputable .
Wannabes just post myths like "It's what you make it " , You can do anything if you want to bad enough" and other such nonsense .slabrunner Thanks this. -
I am not doubting any of the facts that you have posted. From what I have read, alot of people that get into trucking get out within the first year.
There was a post that said that out of 14 that finished a cdl class at stevens, only 4 were left in the program with the trainer.
So I am agreeing with you that there is alot of turnover.
What I am also saying is that there are still people that go into this and start with the bottom feeders, and STILL make it in this career.
In my UDT/SEAL class there were 150 that started. Only 35 made it.
Most Fail.
But it was one of the best things that I ever did. If I had listened to everyone saying that I would not have made it, then I would have certainly failed.
I am going to go into this and I am going to give it 100%.
I intend to make it. I believe that I can deal with anything that they can throw at me.
If for some reason, it does not work out at the first company, I will try another and then another.
Failure is not an option!
Now are you going to answer my questions?Last edited: Jan 22, 2010

Nope , they are not worthy of an answer . They are totally irrelevant .Just try going to a second company after it doesn't work out with the first company and you get negative DAC .
You don't understand the way I view things . I know there are worthy wannabes out there with the potential to be good drivers . I respect them . But they are hindered by the huge numbers of people running through CDL mills . Trying to find a good driver is like trying to find a needle in a haystack .
But the bottom feeders aren't interested in good drivers . They want cheap drivers . C.R. England putting trainees in a truck and running 5,000 miles a week while the trainer is in the sleeper is a good example . Companies saying all we have is teams and lease trucks is another example .
Nobody had more determination or potential than Lavender Trucker but getting teamed with the wrong person was even too much from her . I'm watching from updates from her and home the owner finds her a decent co-driver .
I cannot understand why newbies want to encourage more newbies . You're just cutting your own throat . The more desperate applicants carriers get the worse the abuse will get . -
IIRC people that go to a CDL mill 30% might stick with it. My school was 55%. We had 218 hrs.
Many hit the road and get whacked with reality, wife and kids whining come home. Adverse conditions etc.
I wouldn't really want to go OTR if I could get something local. I used to drive concrete, they want 2 years verfiable for $11hr.
There isn't any jobs around here of any type. I live 40 miles from the big city. I have never worked in the town I live in.
The IRS, the mortgage company, etc. I am ready to roll. -
Did I suggest you try Moorman Farms in Utica , KY ? They run hopper and drivers usually leave out Sunday and get in every Friday . They do some deliveries in the Nashville area so you might get home during the week once in a while . You'd have to drive a couple of hours to and from work but you won't sit . They keep the trucks moving .

Called. They said they couldn't get me home. It is 133 miles from me. Not bad really. 2hrs and 45 minutes. Lots of 2 lanes.
Thanks for the thoughts! -
I already knew you would not answer them!

my application is in at us express my recruiter is shirl

Okay, so you guys are talking solo.
Let's say my wife and I wanted to drive team ? Would we make enough to pay some bills ? Would it be worth getting my wife trained ?
I have a CDL-A , because I drove for Schneider in 01 for a couple of months. I recently helped my uncle run a hotshot up to WY. It had been a while for me, but it all came back pretty quick, like riding a bike. My wife enjoyed it and is the type that can go with the flow.
She just finished up her BS and is having hell finding work in her field. I have about 30 hrs before I get mine. So we are entertaining the idea of running team. Of course we have been together 24/7 for the last four years, so that's not a problem.
From what I can tell solo's are getting the shaft while teams are getting the miles. True ? False ?Blue Screen Thanks this.
