Considering an 02' 379 Long Hood 63" Flat top

89 9370 I bought to flip. Got busy and it sat in the back for 9 years. Finally put an engine in it and painted it. By then it was so old no body wanted to pay anything for it. It was worth more to me for farm use than to give it away.
It does not see a lot of miles but about 6 years later it is still dependable. I have never replaced an air valve or chamber. Three wheel seals have failed but I looked up in the drums with a light on inspections and caught 2 of them early. The third one I could smell while checking tires and hubs post trip.
One of my friends has a farm truck that became a rat condo. It looks normal when you open the door. If you pull a dash panel it is unbelievable. Amazing all those short air lines with push to connect fittings on both ends found the right mate. Lots of wires with all the insulation chewed off of them. This truck was only parked about 4 months.

Did not mean to post that yet but wanted to say. Trucks can be equally bad as that one has been good. Often that is blamed on the driver. Years ago I worked for a fleet that slip seated about 20 drivers through 12 trucks. Three years in one trucks maintenance file was twice as thick as all the others.
Some things can not be explained. Hope you do not get a turd.

 

Paccar should have just put the hole in the back of the diff at the factory. Two out of three of my mine with Eatons have had the rear housing changed. One of them ran for over a year with a Loonie sized patch of JB Weld on the hole where the ride height adjuster tab rotted off.

 

Dealership, can get warranty history, build date, in service date, and every part # for every part built with.

 

Im looking at the picture and saying to myself, "that truck looks familiar " was it on with Eassons maybe? The NS dept of Hwy truck in behind sealed it.

 

I think the value of these are higher than what I saw people post in the first page of this thread. I was searching around for a Pete 379 and most if not all fell into 2 categories of “fixed up ready to roll” for $85k and up to “sitting forever” for $30k and up.

For me personally I found one that was in use, but in rougher shape cosmetically than the one you posted. I would figure out nice you want a truck to be and what is your budget. Then calculate how much it will cost to get the truck to how you want it. Then subtract it from the budget and that’s what the truck is worth.

Honestly though you can buy the truck, replace a lot of parts and have that thing running mint that I would wager it as more reliable than any other truck after emissions for a whole lot less money.

 

There was a couple trucks, owner ops, on with Eassons with those colors. That could be a gem.
