Tire Rotation

Didn't have air assist on my dually, but went 118k on a set of these R500 HD's on the drive. I loved them, thought they were great tires..



Now I can't recall if you have a 2wd or 4wd F350?
I'd consider running a steer/drive setup like this & just rotate the steers side to side if 2wd. R500 HD's out back & R250's on the steer axle. When they start to cup run em out on the trailer. You'd loose a little axle capacity though as the LT235/85r16 is only good for about ~3100lbs vs the ST trailer tires at about ~3520lbs..

I've heard good things about the Firestone Transforce as well. I just liked the Bridgestone R250's because of the steel side wall, & rib tread patten resembles a good semi truck steer.. Whatever you've been doing has been working keeping that ol girl making money!

 

I don’t rotate my truck tires like most people do. When I notice drive tire wear, I’ll typically roll the steers back and buy a new set for the steer axle. Or if the drives still look ok. I’ll buy a new set of steers at least once a year and toss the take offs in the shed until I have a set of four of them for the drive axle. I did the same thing when I ran my semi trucks.

I don't think Bridgestone offers the R250 any longer. I've had a pair of R238's on the front of my 2wd DRW for quite awhile now...somewhere in the 110-115k miles now they're pretty well chewed up and cupped on the outside shoulders from letting the wheel bearings go too long without an adjustment. Closest thing I could find to a true 16" steer tire but they are not the lightest or most plush riding tire you can put on the front of a little truck. All of those steel sidewall rib tires are going to be around 50 lbs at least for a 215/85. Michelin XPS Rib and Goodyear G949 RSA are/were similar.

I have a new Firestone Transforce HT sitting around as a spare and will get whatever the current matching one is for the that and use those on the front when my other aluminum wheel shows up. I don't suppose they will last nearly as long as the Bridgestones but I will see how a much lighter weight tire and wheel package feels on the front.

 

Generally I don't either with a 2wd dually. Mixing and matching steer and drive rubber with steel and aluminum wheels it just doesn't work like it does with a SRW 4x4 where they are easily rotated. I have Centramatic balancers on both axles and just run them where they are until something starts looking like trouble.
