The exposed copper will oxidize and if you don't cover it there's an easy way to short the switch, which could be dangerous.
Something like this $15 switch would be safer. https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-Waterproof-Disconnect-Isolator-Warranty/dp/B07T288VN8/Another Canadian driver, Alexp2686 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
No, that's for a post style. You need something for a stud. And it's got to handle the amperage. What's it rated for?
Personally, i would never mount one at the batteries. Mount it remote and break the ground.bjytech, Another Canadian driver, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
Will 455 amps be enough? What is the pull of the starter?Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

I don’t think it has enough amperage capacity. I don’t know what the amp draw is for your truck, but I would guess close to 200a

That’s at 48v. Amperage increases as voltage decreases. So I if I remember right it’s a little over 100a at 12v.Another Canadian driver, Big Road Skateboard and Alexp2686 Thank this.

Nope. Nope nope nope. That's not a good design at all. This is the style I'd be looking into:

Thank you all for the responses! Im going to wait and do some research or get a shop to install one. i thought it was going to be easy, but it seems like theres more to it and I dont want to short or burn my truck down.

Sometimes my truck sits for a week or 2 and the battery is dead by the time i get back. The batteries im replacing was just purchased a lil over a year ago. Now after 1 night off it needs a jump.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
