What's the scuttle butt with team drivers, are any of you getting miles ? From what I am reading as of late, the solos are being cut on miles and it sounds like the teams are getting them. True ? False ? What ?

My wife and I are entertaining the idea. I have been in the truck before, and the wife has not. If there are any teams that can give me a good, bad, ugly about their current or recent company, I would appreciate it.

If your worried about getting in trouble with a post, just send me a pm.

    Thanks,

    Hammer Down !

I have always been curious about the team thing... I can see where a husband/wife team would work...
However, those companies that just throw together two people and call them a team seems like that may not always work...

I also thought about drivers who want to team but there wife either already has a career, just isn't insterested in driving a truck or whatever... Perhaps they could use lesbian to team with LOL...

For me, teaming with a married man has been better than when I was with the single guy... and to be fair, I realize he was a jerk, and not all single guys would be like that... With a married man, you got the wife you can call... so, there is an added insurance...

    Woman you crack me up.

I've told my husband ever since we started that if he quits I'm teaming with a friend I made in school. Yes, she's a lesbian. That has nothing to do with our friendship nor teaming. She has her partner, I have my husband. If my husband and I ever quit teaming I'll team with her and Lavender you can have my hubby. :biggrin_25525:

I'd suggest renting a tiny camper without a bathroom or shower, and spend a month or two living in it to see how you guys do in close quarter lol. If I had done that before... i'd never been teaming with my husband. Being locked in a closet is bad enough. Being locked in a moving closet with the added stress of trying to sleep on bad roads, make hard ### appointment times, and having little to no time to eat, ####, shower, and shave is an adventure.

Oh sure you love your wife now, how will you feel when she's got the runs 200 miles from any sort of 'civilization', hasnt had a shower in 2 days, and is cranky from lack of good sleep and you have 5 hours to go 300 miles in a 65 mph truck?.

LOL ! As long as I keep a steady supply of cheese in the mini-fridge, it's all gravy ! LOLOLOLOL !!!!!!!

Seriously I do understand what your saying. I recently helped my uncle, by running a hot shot to WY and back. I took her along. We ran hard ! And that truck was not new by any means. Weather seals on the driver door let cold air poor in, no air ride passenger seat and padding was beat down. So basically what we had was a rolling beat-you-senseless-sauna. LOLOLOLOL

I tell you, she handled it like a trooper. Of course we weren't running team and that is obviously different. But she got a taste of run-n-gun, with way less than ideal comfort. When it comes down to eating or starving, it's surprising what you will put up with. We both are willing to do that.

LMAO! That's the truth! Stace and I had been together 13 years and never had a serious argument before we started teaming. Boy did that change there for a while.

At one point a few years ago we were running all timed-transit freight and getting no good shut-down sleep at all... I can't remember exactly what it was that she said one night but I do remember looking over at her and seriously considering the odds of getting away with leaving her at the next truck stop we came across. :biggrin_2556:

We finally got everything worked out so that we're back to our old happy selves but it took a while.
