A million things to ask about a new company and a lot of it you won't learn until orientation. No lectures please, if you learned every detail before joining you just rock on! For the rest of us mere mortals...
My health insurance costs $200 per month for one person with a $3500 deductible and a $7000 cap on out of pocket.
I get about 1% 401k match fully vested at 6 years.
The usual paid holidays and one week PTO after a year.
How about all of you? If we get enough takers we can start naming names.
Let's compare company based benefits packages

Yellow/YRC health insurance for the driver and family is free. It's on the website.
~
As a full-time YELLOW employee you’ll receive amazing benefits:
- 100% paid healthcare for you AND your family
- Great pay. Road drivers first year expected income $60-65k plus
- Paid holidays, vacation, and sick days
- Great home time
- Company paid hotel for overnights
- When the wheels stop moving we still pay you: hourly pay for load delay/layover
CamryXSE and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
We get $18/hr detention after the first 2 hours to max out at $144/day.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
That 200 a month is pretty reasonable now a days. My wife an i each pay 300 a month with a 5000 deductible each. That's each on our own individual plan so the premium is cheaper. If we did a joint plan it would be 800 a month total with a 5k deductible each.

About 200/month for insurance as well though I don't know the deductible off hand as I hardly ever use it. I believe 1 week pto up front 2 weeks after three years and 3 after five. 401k is 75% of 3% after a weird algorithm and a 100% employer paid employee stock ownership program (employee ownership). With the pay and how great the office is the rest is really just gravy to me.

The important numbers are the deductible amount and the cap on out of pocket expenditures.
Anyway, the cost of my insurance sounds more normal though you have the better 401k. I hope we get more participants as the numbers are spread out and this is one area of job satisfaction where I haven't seen a deep dive. -

I recently talked to a Ten Roads Express mail carrier and that's union and they make about those wages.
I've talked to Walmart drivers who are killing it.
Then, there are the rest of us trying to keep up with housing and inflation.Last edited: Aug 28, 2022

I know this isn’t an option for most…
But I gave up 25yrs of my life to have low cost healthcare ($32 copay that’s it) for me and my family.
The retirement also pays for the house, bills and food.
only downside was any job I applied for I was competing with 22-26 year olds who were willing to work 80 hours a week for $15 an hour.
So trucking… paid hourly, home every night 4 days a week. Company wants $450 a month for their family health care.CamryXSE Thanks this.
