    Maverick is still Maverick....

Freight got pretty slow last month, but it seems better the last week or so...on the plus side though, I've been home the last 6 weekends.

They didn't have it worked out for me to get home last weekend but Columbus Coatings couldn't get me loaded in time to make that delivery Friday morning...and home was right on the way down to Talledega :biggrin_25519:

$500-$700 a week is the actual take home pay (after my meals on the road and all the other deductions...medical insurance and all that crap)

The road don't pay as good as it once did...but it still keeps food on the table and and a roof over the heads of my wife and 2 kids.

Have a few questions for Maverick drivers. They may have already been covered in the previous pages. If so, sorry.

Have five years experience, but none in flatbed. I understand there is a two week course in securing loads, tarping, etc. Is that accurate?

The pay and insurance at Maverick fairly decent?

As for hometime, I hear that a lot of drivers make it in most weekends. Is that for an actual weekend? Or just a 34 hour reset?

What kind of miles are you averaging a week for a solo driver?

They pretty decent people to work for?

Been thinking of looking at Maverick. Not because I have had any problems where I am, just looking at getting home a bit more often. Any help would be appreciated.

I was with Maverick in 2008. It was and I would say a very good company. I know the times were a little better then, but some things do not change. My weekends home were almost always a 34 hr restart. I averaged 850 take home weekly. Some were 600 and a few were 1100. The people are good to work for and I would reccommed it to anyone.

I don't drive for Maverick, but I drive flatbed, it seems like most of my freight and the customers I run loads for do business Monday thru Friday 7AM to 5PM, weekends at home are often a 34 hour reset unless I ask for a long weekend at home.
