I can understand that... but I have also heard and read posts about how the sklls and courtesy of truck drivers have deteriorated... that drivers are not being trained as well, don't care as much or take pride in their work or themselves... Which I can see and understand that thatis true as well...

Now I think that there is a common reason for the deterioration of drivers, 4 wheeler and truck.... Drivers today are distracted... some very distracted... you seem on the phone, texting, or whatever... That I do believe is a big par of the being discourtious... Someone on the phone, even hands free, talking and lauging with a friend, they are in their own world, their own bubble.. and then just move in and out of traffic with little thought....

I will admit, even I have fallen prey to that... Not so much in the truck, and before I got into trucking... I would be on my phone driving and it was like I wasn't really aware of much more than the conversation I was having, where I was going, and if I had enough room to change lanes... You see a spot and jump in... you are not really thinking, oh I bet that truck needs that room... again you see a space and yoy fill it...

Then I watched this program on PBS, it was all about these studies of the impact of technology... on driving and other things... about multi-tasking and all... wow.. that was an eye opener and I began to make changes... Then I got into trucking... and really got an eye opener and have made even more changes....

I continue to see both truck driver's and 4 wheelers that are at fault on a daily basis in a collision. There is no blanket right or wrong answer, comment or whatever on this topic. As long as human beings are driving motor vehicles on roadways with each other sheet is going to happen. Has been since the ifrst motor vehicle hit the highway. You have good driver's and bad driving all types of vehicles. Lavender has a point, the distractions today are more than there has ever been in the history of the motor vehicle. I feel younger driver's today have not received the "practice" I was afforded as a youngster. Meaning, when I was a child I was driving tractors on my grandfathers farm at five, driving vehicles on the farm at 5 and learning how a car works. Kids today have their head shoved in a TV or computer and work the heck out of a Wii or DS. But to put a blanket statement that a 4 wheeler or a truck driver is a bad driver does a disservice to all. With anything you have good and bad driving both.

I'm right with you there! Every time I get back up to Denver I'm amazed at the idiots and driving. I got so angry the other day (while driving my 4 wheeler) I finally had to come up with a solution just for myself to keep calm at the absurdity of it all. Yes, I've seen a few bad truckers, but the day has come when I find it impossible to go anywhere without being tailgated so closely there seriously isnt even half a car length or less between my bumper and some freakin idiot!!!! Out of every 10 times I go anywhere, there's possibly one time there's not a tailgater that #### close!!!! I finally bought a bumper stick that was simple and plain. You can bet I wanted the one that said "closer, closer, you're almost within range" or stay right there I'm re-loading etc. I just got the simple "tailgating is a crime and my cell is set on speed dial." It wasnt this way 10 years ago. What is up with all these idiots who think they can ride your ##### for miles!? When I'm driving my truck there's are times I'm just blown away at the craziness of some of the drivers out there. Truck idiots pale in comparison, we don't have the "race car teens," and/or "that syndrome. We don't have the "race to the stop light/sign to slam on our brakes and take off again rapidly, or the ability to weave in and out of traffic at break neck speed and so on...............
