It's sickening to see how much money and labor is wasted in transportation, but we (I) depend on it to an extent as our income lol. I hauled raw material for Cat from IN to PA. Cat needs this in IL, but doesn't "have the ability" to store it. So it's sent from IN to PA, where a company is contracted to "store it" (outside in the dirt), until they use their private fleet to haul it to IL. Sound efficient? Now something that should have been an $8k expense is over $30k by the time Cat uses it to make a part. Makes more sense why when I repacked the lift arms on my dozer the seals were around $450 at Cleveland Brothers, and $40 on Amazon.

Of course the more waste, the better the load pays generally speaking. There are companies that seemingly decide to pinch their pennies on transportation costs to make up for their other wastes, so it's not a hard n fast rule, but compare net profit from moving windmill blades or solar farm frames vs running a coal bucket.

I told one guy that I bought it to put in my truck, but when I got there I saw it was too big to fit so I'm looking for a buyer.

I wouldn't know, I've never worked for them.

What I can tell you, is the drivers I've seen seem to take pride in their work, have the right attitude and don't act like they need to rush. So from the outside, it looks like TMC is paying them to do the job right and actually has solid training for new drivers.

I suggest always carry blank BOL. But also get your own frieght bills. I have a print shop make mine. Serves as invoice to. I know kinda old school. But it covers many issues. They are to sign it before unloading. Because once they touch it, its their's.

Surely there's a TTR member that lives in the area with a shop so you can get the part and change it. Idk... Just trying to think outside the box.
