Another day, another fruitless trailer search, this time in Oklahoma. Two locations, both showing empties on the app…both times, trailers are loaded. More wasted time and money. I’m sorry, but this Schneider department sucks.

Update…after two stops with nothing to show for them, I’m sent 87 miles in the opposite direction to fetch an empty at a repair facility, supposedly post-repair.
Not trusting box as far as I can throw the entire department, I decide it best to call first, and SURPRISE!! The trailer has not yet been repaired due to a lack of parts.

The latter part is acceptable…just a part of our current sad state of national affairs. But why didn’t box know this? Experience has taught me to call first when practical. So why don’t they?
Oh, I know. They don’t have the time to check every last detail. Understood. But #### it, we’re on the clock too. And having to perform their tasks (or at least checking on them) is time consuming and frustrating.

We as drivers have to put up with electronic babysitters, constant safety reminders, etc. But it seems other departments aren’t held to a similar standard. Maybe it’s just our world today, I don’t know.

But I do know one thing: I’m over it. Completely.

Lucky for you, you had a phone.
Imagine how awesome it would be if BOX had a phone.
But that would be entirely too much trouble.

Seriously, BOX Dude, the reason you can't is because you won't.

Perhaps I come from a different generation, but my generation would have made it work.

I know some drivers will resort to finding an empty on their own, searching our customers without assignment. I hesitate to do this because of the potential problems it creates for the planners, so I’m mindful of that.

But this stretch of the last few weeks has caused me to reconsider my position. I figure with all the wasted time and effort I’ve made lately, the least I can do is return the favor.

Good and valid point. Why do you have the time to chase empties but a department dedicated to managing empties doesn’t have the time to ensure empties are where they are supposed to be?

Well, in fairness, they're running around 12,000 company drivers.
And that's a lot of drivers.

Swift has 20,000 drivers, 50,000 trailers and no "box planners".
