APU POLL

My original rigmaster was a POS. Traded it in for another reconditioned rigmaster, which has also proven itself to be a POS. I regret every dollar I put into both of them -- you're waaaaaay better off idling (rigmaster burns at least 1/4 gallon per hour vs 2/3 gph for most idling engines).


To make it worse, there are also very few places that know how to work on them. I know only of Big Rig Accessories in Gretna, NE & San Antonio, TX and the small APU shop across the street from the TA outside Springfield, MO.

 

Maybe your problem was with reconditioned used units. I have had my dynasys for 4cand half years. Good dependable service. . its has a 6500 watt generator and an alternator. If you were replacing generator heads like that, the problem want the genset, but a cause was there. But often folks think the genset is bad when its a 50 dollar capacitor, the capacitor makes it go.

 

My Dynasys has been mostly good. It is on the third alternator and not charging the batteries again, have to put it back in to get checked next week.

 

Yay for me and my technical expertise. The little white signal wire from the alternator was broken, a quick budt splice and back to normal.

 

I just bought a 2017 truck with rigmaster unit thats got 7300 hrs on it. Did service on it, spent about $1500 to replace some parts cause it was smoking when started. It blew an engine after 3 weeks, I didn't even had a chance to enjoy it yet. Will probably scrap the unit, hell with it.
