YRC is a dumpster fire now. Lots of disgruntled employees due to several change of operations and combining of barns. Retirement is in serious trouble for central states fund. Upcoming contract negotiations that could get ugly. Full blown union environment so if you can’t deal with that and all that it implies you may want to keep looking. Years ago a union LTL peddle/dock gig would be a golden opportunity, now not so much. Estes is a good gig but a lot of LTL jobs being good/bad has much more to do with the local terminal manager than the overall company reputation. A good terminal manager will make it a dream job a bad one will produce a little slice of hell in his barn. Talk to some of the guys actually out of the barn you’re looking to go to

Remember back in the day , jobs at Holland , YRC , Roadway , CF were jobs you could never get unless you had a hook up.
If it was me now I'd still go for it.
Good Luck.LtlAnonymous, Speed_Drums and Speedy356 Thank this. -
I think the feds are bailing them out

They already have to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. I’ve worked for CFCC, CF, and R&L. Several relatives retired out of the older big unionized LTLs so I’ve more than a passing familiarity with this sector of trucking. I’d look past YRC if there was another gig with one of the major LTL outfits even if it was union like ABF. The problems at YRC go far beyond the teamstershaz-matguru, LtlAnonymous, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.

I was a dock worker and linehaul at Yellow/YRC-Charlotte when you had to know somebody; I was referred by a 30 year vet.. When I realized pension would be iffy for my generation I got out. Right when I left people started backstabbing on the docks and in the yards which discouraged me from ever going LTL again
I think I heard salary was capped to 25/hr in Charlotte, but I left a decade ago. P&D guys were the only ones getting a lot of home time; linehaul got 2.5 days a week if they had seniorityhaz-matguru, LtlAnonymous and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
Yep i got a buddy there. he's been there 8 years and it has its typical bs but its pretty good. any suggestions on where else to go? trying to find linehaul but considering flatbed or tankerLtlAnonymous Thanks this.
