There's a whole industry around this.

As soon as your authority becomes active, your information is public. There are companies that compile all of that information and sell it to others, some other people can just search the internet whatever. You're information is out there from a thousand different sources and they're going to get it and they're going to call you they're going to be non-stop Relentless because you're what they're after.

Also any company that you deal with can take your information and sell it. So your insurance company or even the agency probably where you got your tag or if you use a factoring service or a dispatching service... if you order things for your truck they too can sell your information.. it's everywhere ongoing non-stop 24/7 and it's not going to stop anytime soon

It does slows down after the first month or two.

Also bear in mind that you are a business. By the way that's another way they solicit you is your business licenses Etc... at any rate you are a business and every business no matter what industry you are in every business is getting phone calls from people that want to sell them something.

It's just part of having a business.

You know what guys and gals, there is no legal requirement for you to have a phone that is answered.

so before you apply for your authority, get a phone, cheap flip phone and use that number for the authority.

when you are done with the process, then turn the phone off. Most correspondence is done by mail anyway.

If you want to deal with brokers who love to call, get another phone and use that number exclusive for just the brokers, turn it off when you don’t want to be pestered or silence it at least. The same goes for shippers and receivers, use that phone only.

always never use your personal phone number.

Get a subscription based burner app. Use that number for any services that say they’re “free”. Once you’re getting too many calls from that burner number toss it away get another one.

If you have your own authority, they get it from your DOT number along with your email. 99% of the calls I get are from individuals with a strong Indian accent. I never answered and they leave a message, all with an American first and Last name. Scammers I am sure.

They get your phone number from FMCSA. It's listed on Safer for the public to see. I changed mine years to something else and the calls stopped. Just update your MS150 with another number. It'll take a while for all the places that have that data cached but it will stop in a few weeks after you change it.

Ok so the update for the problem I’m having is that I called Truckstop.com and asked them why is that that when I use their loadboard I get unbearable number of spam calls from dispatching companies (it seemed like it was happening after using truckstop). The agent said, “Oh I apologize, I will turn that off for you, your search won’t be visible to dispatching companies anymore”. I just made sure that brokers would still be able to see that I looked at their posts and she confirmed they would. So if anyone have that issue, call Truckstop - it’s them.
