Hey Hwy! How goes the battle?
Not looking real good for me being home when you come up to NE. Might be heading down to Texas. Anything to escape this nasty weather. Might play around down there for a few days than back up North.
Sounds like some issues with the truck. Sorry to hear that. I could use some new batteries myself. Should have replaced them in the fall when new batteries would have really done me some good this past winter. Hope everything is tip-top for your run up to NE. I forgot... what kind of trailer are you pulling?

I'll be picking up a Timpte Hopper trailer in NE. Yeah, the trucks had a few issues since I bought it. I just get tired of the little stuff that the dealer should've done right. The deal was on paper before they had the truck, and I've had good luck doing that in the past. It all comes down to who you do business with I guess - I placed an order and they filled it as cheap as they could. Live and learn.

Picking up the wife and moving to North Carolina...well there goes your 50 large!
Before you invest your hard earned money, I would suggest you take a job as a company driver OTR. This will allow you to improve upon your newly learned skills and also give you time to realize if this is the lifestyle you want to be in for the forseeable future.

    HwyPilot and Hedon Thank this.

I don't wanna shoot you down or anything, but I think Gears is right...if you've never driven before and are just now getting your CDL, you'll want to drive for a company for awhile and make sure you really like it. It's not a business for everyone. When most people start out they have no idea what is involved in just being out on the road for a week and what it can do to a person who isn't prepared.

It's good that you have that kind of money saved up. You'll need it. I'd advise hanging on to it until you know that you like this kind of job before you spend it all on the truck, insurance, etc., and find out it's not as easy as it looks.

These guys are right. Even the long timers are stuggling right now. Us the 50K and go to nursing school. You already have the background in it, and you'll make a ton more money! But if your heck bent on driving, get a job with a company first. Let them spend their money so you can learn!
