Solidium rectifier must have a hole in it.
I was gonna leave my post as was but I wish to expound. This is the kind of BS that technicians and writers contend with. AND, if they don’t understand and don’t fix it the first time, these dummies get on the internet and forums, and bash techs at dealerships and everywhere else for being stupid and can’t fix nothin, over charge, put stuff on it doesn’t need as well as a hunerd other excuses. “ I’m gonna start doing my own work so I know it’s right”. Yeah right! I have worked in dealerships over half my life, and this is a prime example of idiocies of which we were burdened with nightly. If you have no idea what your talking about, and there is nothing wrong with that, there’s a thing called google you can do, IF, you care enough to at least be able to talk half assed intelligently to someone. Come on!!!Last edited: Sep 8, 2022
spsauerland, AModelCat, Goodysnap and 1 other person Thank this. -
Try writing that again, it doesn't make sense and you left some information out.
I'm assuming the Oil cooler was replaced recently, not exhaust oil cooler. Oil in water would be Oil cooler yes.
Now you are leaking antifreeze out of turbo? Do you mean it's smoking white out the exhaust? Cause there's no antifreeze in the turbo. Your pre-cooler could certainly be leaking antifreeze but that wouldn't come out of your turbo.
You said you did a pressure test to 15 psi, did it hold that pressure? And for how long?
Complete sentences and punctuation really helpspsauerland and Oxbow Thank this. -
Water cooled turbos on truck engines is a whole nother thing we don’t need to deal with thank god.

I don’t think much of technicians. You sound just like the guy with the little attitude, earphones and surgical gloves that said “I plugged it in and there’s nothing wrong with it, you don’t know what you’re talking about” two days before a piston and liner went out through the side of it. Technicians couldn’t find their own ### with both hands and a flashlight unless a computer told them where it was first. Further to that, if I’m looking for a mechanic a dealership is the last place I’m going to look. That would be like going to Swift looking for a truck driver.olddog_newtricks Thanks this.

That’s just plain silly and untrue, and I suspect you are sharp enough to know it.
spsauerland Thanks this. -
Oil cooler or pre-cooler was replaced?
special-k Thanks this. -
Sadly, it's truer than it should be. Yes, there are still good techs in the dealerships, but plenty of bad ones, too. And the loss of information because of how service writers don't pass on details is infuriating.

I had a similar thing happen. Oil pressure was acting weird ( would jump to 100 then go back to 35 ) Cummins changed the sending unit and sent it back out. A week later the front crank bearing seized up. I ended up putting in a new long block. I agree ... most of the techs today are worthless.
