Congrats - I sent in an app 2-3 weeks ago. Their recruiter showed up today in a brand new Pete - Probably the only new truck they have to impress the students (school is private not company).

Recruiter told me that anything over 75 degrees gets idle time - does not look like that here. Will they put a noob in a refer? recruiter said yes, is that true?

I had an accident with alcohol (before they had DUI's) sometimes in the 80's, I think it was mid like 86, but don't know or remember. The school told me not to put it down, but I think they found it. Told the recruiter, he said he would take care of it. Sounds like BS to me.

Do they do orients out of Denver? If this recruiter is legit, then I might go to May.

If I have a choice between Watkins Shepard or May which one do you guys/gals think I should go for?

Also he said that they are hiring now, trainer wait is max 2-days and that truck wait is max 1-day, until the 20 trucks they have with no warm bodies are filled.

Rednek - keep me posted on the orient - and the fun stuff thats goes on.

They have recruiters at every terminal. Go to their website and you can get the recruiting numbers. www.maytrucking.com.

It's hard to get on with them though....they are very picky. They like professional drivers and in return, you are treated well. You're a name...not a number like with the huge outfits. Decent miles, and nice trucks. They usually only hire a couple of people a month or so, but if you are persistent and get on the recruiters good side...then you should be okay. You are micromanaged at May so if you don't like to conform to a companies way of doing things...don't bother applying. They tell you what route to run and where to fuel, etc. If you deliver your loads on time and don't complain....you are treated good. Good luck.

I worked for May right out of school. My DM was a pain, but I think the company is basically a good one. I would recommend them for new drivers, not sure why anyone with experience would go there. 60 MPH... That drove me crazy more than anything. Getting a good DM anywhere is hit or miss, but 60 anywhere but the lame states that have 55MPH truck speeds just sucks.

Kbar, I feel your pain. I have a hard time kissin butt, but at May it's required. Still if someone is the type that can keep their mouth shut and stay under the radar maybe butt kissin wouldn't be necessary. It's still not the worst company out there. I was in the reefer div. and stayed pretty busy as long as I didn't stuck at the Brooks terminal.
