So, I haven't entirely given up on installing my super 10 in my International. Yet.

I got this trans cheap. So cheap, in fact, I'm probably breaking even by just scrapping it, so I'm not going to cry if it's not going to work. But I did have some questions for someone here who has technical knowledge of these types of transmissions. I've attached some pics of some damages areas inside the trans, and I'm looking for advise. The first 3 pictures, named drain-plug(2,3) are of a piece of the trans I found on the magnetic drain plug. Its thin, and looks a bit like a bearing cage or maybe a big star washer. Anyway, I was hoping someone could tell me what that is, or offer suggestions on what it looks like. The last pic is of the mainshaft splitter gear on the extension housing. The sliding clutch goes in and out of there. The corresponding gear on the main housing looks about the same. I'm thinking that looks pretty shagged, based on pictures on ebay of the new parts. Is it done, does it need replacement?

Anyhow, thanks for any and all comments.

I can't answer your question. But I want to know if you would be interested in another cheap 10 speed. It's been sitting on my shop floor since 2017, and was rebuilt in 2015, if I remember right. I have paperwork for rebuild, just not in front of me. I swapped it out for a 13speed because it didn't work well with an 11.1L S60 Detroit I dropped in the truck. I wanted to split the the gears with heavy loads. The catch is that it has an electronic solenoid for shifting, not air actuated. The tranny is of no use to anybody except maybe for parts. I thought I might put it back in the truck before I was to sell it and keep the 13speed. If you need parts and can use, I just want $$$ a little marked up from price of steel.

    Looks like a bearing cage.

That metal snot on the plug is normal. The piece of wire is questionable. Tie wire off a shift rail or OD yoke lock bolt? That other thing is a bearing cage out of the back box. Gear might be OK? Can you just install and run it? NO!

Why can I not run it? I know a few reasons, but why do you say no? You’re thinking that thing in my hand is a bearing cage from the extension housing?

Are you thinking that piece I'm holding is from one of the bearings (#5 in the pic)? Looks likely to me.

Most likely place for damage in a Super 10 is the range synchro.
