State rules don't matter... FMCSA matters once a CDL holder. Federal Register :: Request Access
Note Table 2: 49 CFR 383.51(c) Disqualification for serious traffic violations. Table 2 to § 383.51 contains a list of the offenses and the periods for which a person who is required to have a CLP or CDL is disqualified, depending upon the type of vehicle the driver is operating at the time of the violation, as follows:
(1) Speeding excessively, involving any speed of 24.1 kmph (15 mph) or more above the regulated or posted speed limit
Oops. 15 mph is the magic number.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Also, like most things in this industry, it doesn't matter what the states say so much. It matters what the insurance company state. And the insurance company states that 15 over is a serious violation and they are reluctant to ensure people with that. And even more reluctant to do it with someone that has it twice.

I did some calculations. If progressive will insure me for anything 5k or less a month. I can survive until a year or two later when I can get better insurance with other insurance company.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

$60k/yr in insurance? It will be bad, but probably not that bad.
And you won't survive at that insurance rate. the first breakdown would shut you down, as there won't be enough left over for anything extra.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
That is true that is why I am only going to go into this with at least 30-50k emergency money not including the insurance money. I got quoted from progressive for a 1 ton with. Wedge trailer with 1 million liability. It was around $1800 a month but im always overestimating everything.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Don't forget the inland marine cargo rider you will need, preferably $100k+ in coverage.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Thanks. I would add that in when I go talk to a insurance agent.
