Thank you. So what percentage works for yoy and your drivers ?
-
Simple answer; pay them what YOU would expect if YOU were an employee. Anything less is bad juju. Why would you even have to ask anybody else? You know what's fair, pay it. If you don't you're going to regret it. All it takes is a single determined and disgruntled driver to run you and your business into bankruptcy.

2000 mile weeks
50 work weeks per annum
75k yearly 1099 , paid out bi-weekly
1400-1500 per week
~ $0.70cpm -
That was my thinking. I was gonna put ad up .70 guarantee 2000 miles a week. So pay will bever be under 1400 a week. Wilth potential to make more.

I worked for a 2 truck outfit for a bit. Good guy, W2, paid me 30% of gross to the truck, and I had family health insurance.
-
Never thought about going the W2 just cause the 3 small companies i worked for did 1099. Will need to look into going that route and give driver a chooce. ThanksCrude Truckin' Thanks this.

.70 in my opinion isn't worth it on 1099 when you factor in the extra self-employment taxes, lack of insurance, workman's comp, unemployment, etc. Paying on 1099 when you own the truck is almost certainly a misclassification of an employee as a contractor. You'd be one disgruntled driver's report to the IRS away from owning a lot of back taxes and penalties. Might want to give this a read before going down that route:
The three most likely ways that paying 1099 instead of W-2 will get your trucking company in trouble. - Superior Trucking Payroll ServiceProfessionalNoticer Thanks this. -
You're right. It's not worth it and only dirtbag outfits pay that way. It's illegal and the only fools that accept it are ignorant and/or are forced to accept it because they don't have any other options due to garnishments, back child support or really poor records.

fast nickel is better than a slow dime if the write offs add up! Lol
