If it's a 1st gen Eaton/Fuller autoshift then your partially correct. I got 978K out of my first one before they traded in the truck onmy new autoshift. For the 1st 4 yrs we always had shift motor problems, it was traced back to a "lowest bidder" problem with Eaton/Fuller. Once they got it solved, there were few problems. The truck is still on the road with now over 1 million miles on the original tranny.

 

No, and SAIA is not ready to "go-under". I have been with them for over 6 years now and I will bet anything there is more to the story. I have refused to drive several tractors due to mechanical or safety issues and have NEVER had a problem. The one thing that is true in this thread is our equipment def. lacks, but hey, there's problems everywhere. The money is great, the hometime is outstanding, and I have enjoyed working here more than any other job I've had. There's my 2 cents

 

I don't think Saia is going anywhere for a long time they treat their employees pretty good my older brother works at the terminal down here in atlanta. He started out in the wash bay within I would say about 2 years he was working in the shop on the trucks themselves changing tires and all of that good crap from what he has done and how long he has been with that company they treat him pretty well considering he pays for a house a car and has two kids and a wife on one budget.

(NASDAQ: SAIA), a leading multi-regional less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier (the "Company"), today reported fourth quarter 2009 results. Losses per share were $0.31 from continuing operations compared to $2.09 in the prior year quarter. Fourth quarter revenue was $202 million, down 12 percent from the prior year, reflecting reduced yield and decreased tonnage. Operating loss from continuing operations was $3.6 million compared to the prior year quarter operating loss of $30.2 million. Fourth quarter 2008 results included a non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $35.5 million. Fourth quarter 2009 highlights include:

-- LTL yield decreased 8.8% due to competitive pricing pressures and reduced fuel surcharge
-- Operating ratio from continuing operations was 101.8 vs. 97.7 in the prior year quarter, excluding the impairment charge

Revenue for the full year 2009 was $849 million, a decrease of 18 percent from 2008. Operating loss from continuing operations for 2009 was $3.7 million, compared with 2008 operating loss of $9.9 million. Loss from continuing operations was $9.0 million in 2009 compared to $19.7 million in 2008. Losses per share from continuing operations were $0.67 in 2009 compared to $1.48 in 2008.
2009 highlights are summarized as follows:

-- LTL yield decreased 11.8% including the impact of lower fuel surcharge and continued pricing pressure

Financial Position and Capital Expenditures
Through cost reductions and effective balance sheet management, the Company significantly reduced its net debt position. Total debt was $90.0 million at December 31, 2009. Net of the Company's $8.7 million cash balance at December 31, 2009, net debt to total capital was 28.6 percent. This compares to total debt of $136.4 million and net debt to total capital of 37.3 percent at December 31, 2008.
During the fourth quarter, an additional 2.31 million shares of common stock were sold to certain qualified institutional buyers in a private placement. The net proceeds of approximately $25.1 million were used to prepay scheduled 2010 principal and interest payments.
Net capital expenditures from continuing operations for 2009 were $8 million. This compares to $26 million of capital expenditures in 2008. The Company is planning net capital expenditures in 2010 of approximately $10 million. This reduced level is due to the continued uncertain economic environment and will be reevaluated as tonnage improves.
Discontinued Operations
In the fourth quarter of 2009, the Company recorded gains of $1.2 million net of the tax effect, or $0.08 per share, as discontinued operations to adjust the liabilities from indemnification obligations related to the 2006 sale of a former subsidiary.
