^^This. Aside from fuel this will be your biggest expense. Factor in all your fixed expenses so you know exactly how much that truck cost to sit in the driveway.
Another thing you need to realize is despite how good the rate per mile some loads just ain't worth doing.

You'd probably be looking at 1800-2500/month insurance unless you got a bad record or accidents. But I've heard some states have really high premiums.

a truck like this would in my opinion be a much wiser choice
Maybe you want one that’s shorter wheel base but there out there and are built like a class 8 truck not a pickup. Much cheaper to I have about 3000 in that truck This particular one is 5.9 cummins with a 6 speed Allison and regular heavy rear end with an actual parking brake. We have worked this truck very hard and never had a bit of trouble. It’s usually pulling hay or a mini excavator on a gooseneck…40k or more gross. Not going to win any races though and not the best creature comforts but might be the beginning of something for you.Tekna Thanks this. -
