I did local in California doing water for them for like a month. We parked trucks at the tank wash out in Chino. I’m willing to bet if they’re hiring for an Arizona/California route they most likely have something like that set up in Arizona.

It’s been some months since I logged onto the forum, but I just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone. I’m only a few months away from my 6 year anniversary with IRT and still feel like it’s the best job I’ve ever had. We received a generous pay bump (fleet wide) in August. I’m still averaging between 3,000 and 3,500 miles per week. The majority of my loads are still coast to coast, and I don’t have any complaints at all.

I haven’t had time to read every post/comment that’s been added since I logged on a few months ago, but I will. Shout out to the other IRT drivers on here who have helped with answering questions. It seems like yesterday when I started this thread and hard to believe 6 years has gone by so quick.

    Stay safe,
    Larry H.

I'm curious to know when the detention pay kicks in. Does it begin immediately after arriving to load/offload? Is it after two hours, four hours, forty eight hours?

No accessorial was paid when I drove for IRT. Worked for them from 2015 to 2020; Turlock and Visalia.

When you arrive at the shipper or consignee, you go to the message folder on your Qualcomm and hit “arrived at shipper” or “arrived at consignee.” Once you’re loaded or unloaded, you go back to the message section and type in the loaded/unloaded call. If you were on time for your appointment, the detention pay begins after 2 hours to my understanding. A recruiter can clarify that, though.

Back in the day, the calls on the Qualcomm weren’t a huge thing. They are now, especially if you want paid the detention. They’re building a brand new terminal in Tulare, CA right next to the Pilot. I saw the dirt work being done a few months ago and the sign that said “Future home of IRT.” We’ve got a new one in Georgia now, too.

I figure a recruiter will just lie to me. No surprise coming from a company that pays mileage based on zip code to zip code. Hopefully, that shameful practice has ceased.

I, too, have noticed the "Future home of" sign. That dirt lot next to the gray cinder block building was one of my favorite sleeping places. Now it's disc'ed up. :(

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Cordele, right off 75 beside the Loves. Never actually been in there, just seen it driving by.

Apparently they started a SE regional and that is the hub. Lots of milk loads from the dairies in GA.

Just info I picked up from another driver, no official announcement.

Correct. I haven’t seen it in person either, but I was told the same thing about it being within rock throwing distance from the Loves.
