They’re basically sick of Bison and TransXs ####. Working for a private fleet is always the best option, and I think we’re going to see more companies going back to their own fleets soon.

I used to pull loads out of Ottawa to Winnipeg 2 /3 times a month for a few years till they moved distribution centre to the 401 &416 .. it became a #### show and prices dropped so we quit pulling it .. I believe their local guys have the majority of stuff on pallets and use a lift gate .. loads are fairly light for the most part.

I thought about applying for the Brampton location because it’s the closest to me .They’re on the 50 best to drive for list and there’s a bunch of articles on truck news about them .They have had ads on Indeed for months looking for drivers and claim up to $105k a year but then you read other listing on indeed for local drivers for Johnstown and NB with starting pay of $21 a hr for Johnstown and $23 a hr for NB and makes you wonder how they get to those numbers. They do state regular pay increases and other things like overnight bonus for drivers running overnight . I guess the only way to find out is apply you always have the option to say no thanks .just makes you think if they’re so great why haven’t these jobs been filled especially in brampton

Not familiar with Giant Tiger other than being told $21 per hour,,,no doubt somewhere for a new driver to hang their hat for a year or so until they can apply elsewhere.
LIGHT SPEED is on the cover of Over the Road magazine this month,, those clowns made some headlines with wrecks last week due to stupidity..,their antics are frequent, any company promote themselves as “elite carriers”. The 50 best companies to work for or “safest fleet” is such a crock of BS

The best fleet to drive for does not poll drivers. Just BS. Giant Tiger is owned by the Northwest Company. They are a good employer

As I am in the process of searching for a new company to land out for my final destination until retirement, let me tell you I’m doing my due diligence. This is something that I can unequivocally state. Trucking companies that are top notch and run their own product and treat their drivers truly like a family and pay them well above the industry standard? They do not advertise, they do not have recruiters, they do not plaster all over the Internet what they offer with fine print below it. Why? Because they don’t have to. I’m in talks with a trucking company right now. For every 20 drivers that approach them they hire one. Because yeah, they pay that well. You actually have to sign documents giving them permission to check your credit, check into your personal life, your criminal history, everything. They don’t hire a steering wheel holder.

So if you’re seeing an ad from a recruiter on Facebook or some other social media site? It’s probably at the very least inflated BS. I’ve got a list of 3 to 4 companies that I’m gonna choose to work from. Of those four, I’ve gotta work my butt off to get in with three of them. I’ve got to go through a long interview process and be fully screened. Those are the good trucking companies. That’s who you wanna work for. That’s why you want to keep your record clean.
