Can't recall the last time I had to wait for a load. I will occasionally have a long wait at a customer especially if other trucks are ahead of me though.

We are so short Canada drivers that loaded tanks are often sitting, sometimes for days. I often run out my 70 and already have my next load assigned before my 34 is up.

Can you give the details on the load? Where did each load originate? Where was the destination? How many miles from Point A to Point B, etc?

I was up there in your neck of the woods last week. I brought a load of grape juice from Fresno, CA. to Roseland, NJ. I unhooked the tank upon arrival, bobtailed to the terminal for a clean one, then loaded in Baltimore the following morning to come right back to Montebello, California.

You would park at a tank wash in Chino. Then run down to palomar mtn north of San Diego. It was a pump load so you had to pump on and off but it was easy. You’d then drive to Niagara bottling in Ontario to unload. Each trip was about 100 miles each way, but a lot of it was driving up the mountain to the well. Each load paid about 100 bucks if I remember but after driving, pumping, driving, usually waiting at Niagara each trip at least 6-7 hours if you were lucky.

Ouch. $100 for 7 hrs. You can make that packing boxes at Amazon.

I think it was a little more then that but yeah pretty much. They had one well on the east side of San Diego that paid closer to 200 but that one definitely took forever to get to. If you’re going to be running local pretty much in California get paid by the hour 100%. You could cut it down a little if you ran overnight, but you inevitably hit traffic. IRT had two trucks running it, but there was a few other companies that ran it so you ended up sitting behind someone a lot waiting.

Other then that I had no problems doing OTR for them. If my situation ever changes they’d be one of the first companies I’d consider

I’ve delivered near San Diego a few times. There’s a place in Escondido that we haul yeast to from Iowa. I went out there to Coronado on vacation years ago. Beautiful scenery by the ocean and all the Navy ships.

Just a quick update. It looks like the newest trucks now have forward facing cameras. No clue how they will be managed, what they record (audio etc) or if they will be retrofitted to older trucks.

Just an FYI for anyone thinking of coming here and cameras are an absolute no.

As long as they’re not driver facing cams.
