I've usually had ok luck with Ryobi tools but recently I tried one of their jigsaws and it was a major POS. Took it back and got a Wen for less and it's been amazing considering the price I paid. All these cheap tools (including Harbor Freight) can get the job done. You just have to understand their limitations and expect to use them accordingly.

    Get a 3/4" m18 impact. Easy life.

Another group I post in was curious to see the M18 3/4 drive working. So I did a short video removing a lug that hadn't been off in about 2 years. Torqued correctly with a drop of oil between the nut and flange when it was done last. This also shows the slow down feature on power level 4. Levels 1-3 work like normal, lo-med-high. Level 4 is same as 3, except slows the tool once the nut breaks loose to prevent having it or a socket fly off and knock your teeth out.

It works better with two hands, had to point/operate the camera with the other one. I'm using a 5 Ah battery. Removing and installing two hubs brings the charge indicator down to 3 out of 4 bars. I have a 12 Ah battery for my leaf blower if it came to that. It's twice as large and twice as heavy. Didn't need it for this.

That's a 1" drive socket with a 3/4 adapter on it. The tire air hose ports were taped off due to a faulty pressure protection valve on the trailer causing the system to be inop. I had taken the hoses off and put on flow caps to keep working. Shortly after doing the hubs and brakes I was starting here, I changed out that valve and put on new stainless wrapped inflation hoses.

I was using the same size Snap-on adapter and the M18 snapped it in two. In it's defense, it wasn't an impact rated adapter though.

I'm pretty sure my adapter is ye old Harbor Freight. The socket is of like quality, but out of a torque multiplier kit I used one time on one wheel and swore never to use again unless I was desperate. Both have held up well for various jobs. Another of the sockets survived a yoke nut that I had to let my 1" air gun chew on for a minute before it broke loose.

Incidentally HF does offer a 1" drive socket set for just over $100, 9 or 10 piece, that has the common sizes for heavy duty wheel service. I needed a 3/4 drive 7/8 socket for my anchor pin driver and spotted this kit at the store. It's not a fast mover, so may not be stocked everywhere.

Also a shout out for the Tiger Tool anchor pin driver - it pushes the crustiest anchor pins and bushings out like they were coated in butter. The instruction sheet even says to use a 3/4 impact on the tool. Pricey, but worth every penny of it.

    ProfessionalNoticer Thanks this.

I have a Tiger Tool for universal joints in drive shafts. It's a beefy piece and works well.

    RedForeman Thanks this.
