I just like to call them as I see them !!

For a VERY large percentage of drivers, things are going to SUCK for a while...

If you're looking for much of a change in freight, best look 2-3 years down the road, at least !!!
The housing and automobile industries are just now hitting bottom. It's going to be a slow, slow return. And with the new rules for drivers, plus regional runs, the miles will never return to what we used to see.
Best of Luck To Us All !!!!

We need to stop buying from Walmart and buy goods only made in North America and watch how fast our economy improves.
When I buy parts for my trucks I will always purchase the ones made in the USA and Canada. However that's getting harder by the day.

I was an O/O when Jimmy Carter was POTUS and times were pretty tough...But I survived! These are tough times as well but if you make the right choices and run your business like a business instead of the way a lot of guys run theirs....You'll survive and when times get better (They always do) You'll be in a position to do well.

There's always hope. Things go up, things go down, things go back up. Sometimes it takes a little longer is all. I do believe this will be a slow recovery, but we will recover. And to put my money where my mouth is, I am investing very heavily in the stock market while it is down because I firmly believe it will go back up.

Take a job, any job, even if it's McD's or Wallyworld. Pay your bills as best you can and just hang in there. We humans are very tenacious and stubborn. We won't stay down for long.

i just got 2633 miles and 6 clock hours last week. So that's over $1300 for me gross.

i've come to the conclusion that the so-called "ressession" is over and that things have returned to normal.

The only problem is that trucking companies have "emotional enertia" (they're so used to not hiring recently) going on so there won't be any big hiring until say, summer.

And, also there are jobs available, but you may have to move or commute to get them.

    Chin up, cowboy.

I don't mean to sound harsh... but I just can't wrap my mind around a 26 year old man with a young mother and child to take care of being out of work for 1 1/2 years..

During this whole bad economy... high unemployemnt time... I have yet to open the classifieds and see a blank page... there have always been job openings....

I would rather do some job and earn some wage than just be unemployed... and, it is always easier to get another job when you have a job that when you haven't worked in months...

Tough times require tough choices... if, there is absolutely no jobs in your area then get to somewhere where their is work and send money home to take care of your child and family....

I have been through tough times... and these aren't the worst... people in our history have gone through worst.... they didn't or couldn't hold up in their homes watching t.v., playing guitar hero, and wishing things were easier.... they did what had to be done...

Now hold on there. Just get your facts before you throw me in the "lazy kid" category. I do what I have to to pay our bills. And I dont watch tv or sit around wishing things were easier. No American can tell me I am lazy or soft. I am a Marine for cryin out loud. Proud and even ####y to an extent. But Ive earned the right to be. Ya think a Marine would just sit on his butt waiting fof someone to bang on his door to offer him a job? Heck no. I have worked my tail off since Ive not had a "real" job. More so than when I actually had a job. I am a carpenter, mechanic, landscaper, bar back, bouncer, painter, roofer, framer, scrapper, plumber, ##### shoveler, and whatever else I have to be to keep my family fed. Im proud of the fact that I dont have to wait in line at the food stamp office to feed my family. Thats because I get out in the streets and hustle my way into work. What I dont have is a steady job. Ive filled out hundreds of job apps with no luck. So you tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for your service to our country. Things will get better, I just don't think it will be any time soon. Hang in there and take what ever you can find in the way of work.

    Scurvydog,
If I could offer you any advice it would be this, research you VA benefits program and see what type training or education you can use to better your marketability.
It's sad to say this but the only workers I know who aren't being affected by this economy are the federal government workers, they do the most #####in' of course but their pay and benefits only go up no matter how poorly they perform.
Good Luck Oh yeah to answer your question,,,,, there is always Hope, although, "Hope is NEVER a solution" and times are NOT that bad..... Wall Street claims it's merely a "market correction"
