I would have picked volvo because they get the best mpg of any truck I've drove.
-
hey where is volvo!!!!
-
i haven't driven a Sterling (ford) yet, so i don't know how much they are improved over the Ford's they used to be.
as for a K-whopper, i only drove one, and that was for only about 10 miles, so i can't give a good opinion on that either.
all the other trucks (including Volvo, which you forgot to list), i have driven many miles, and liked each and everyone of them.
i think your "poll" ought to include also whether or not we like: day cabs, sleepers (sit-in or condo), cabovers, or hoods. just merely brand name only isn't really a "poll" as most all of these trucks are not 100% same name branded equipped.
what do i mean...? at on time, Volvo, was ALL Volvo, Mack was all Mack, (engines, transmissions, rear axles, suspensions, etc, made by Mack, or made by Volvo), now all trucks are basically "mongrels" as they are a mixture of components made by major manufacturers, just like Peterbilt and K-whoppers were always known as (mongrels)...............
and for the prices these rigs are going for, even the "cheaper" makes are expensive........ -
Yep true dat..i got a volve with a cummins 640
-
Something without a hood.

PETERBILT.
I know theres more freightshakers on the highway because of all the Fleets that use them... but it surprises me to see that they are voted #1 on a DRIVERS favorite poll here... Never liked 'em and cant ever see myself driving one, even one of the Classics or Coronados -

I have to say that my favorite truck so far is a Peterbilt 379. I have tried really hard to like the Peterbilt 387 bubble truck that I am in now and I just can't get used to it. It is uncomfortable and doesn't turn very short. Also the best I have seen is 5.65 mpg in this "aerodynamic" truck when the 379 "wind catcher" got 6.05 mpg.
