Don't know what they're going to end up as, but they were removed from our fuel network Friday until "they get back up and running." According to our fuel network gal.

Well, that's just stupid in two cases ...
Petro Ruther Glen / Carmel Church, VA. That's at x104 on I 95. The TA Richmond (NB) is at x92 and the TA Ashland (SB) is at x89.
Petro Elkton, MD x109A on I 95 is just a half a mile or so, if that - from TA Elkton on the same road.
Why is TA trying to fall all over themselves to compete against themselves? -
Was told by another driver last night who lives close to the Petro in Rutherglen, VA. that they are all leaving the TA/Petro chain as many others have already. (Breezewood, PA., Milton, PA. etc)
-
So you're saying they aren't going to be Petros now? As long as Elkton still takes ComData, I'm fine w/that.
*Edit...Just called them, they're open in Elkton, and they've got a new name, certainly not Petro.Last edited: Feb 2, 2010

Anybody know WHY these Petros are changing names? Take over name and becoming full TA? Reverting to independent franchisee? Did I spell that right? A completely OTHER truck stop chain getting involved with this?
Let's see, Flying J died and got eaten by Pilot.
Petro apparently is dying and will be eaten by TA and what other chain or linked independents?
Thanks. -
There is a former Petro in PA... cant remember which one, I think on I80. Its been a few months since I was there.... I over heard the manager telling a driver something along the lines of Petro raising the franchise fee, which they had promised not to do for 3 years... broken contract or something.
I distinctly remember him saying "A ##### Petro contract dont mean ####" -
The Petro on I80 near the OH border is now an All American. I also pass by the Elkton MD stop daily and noticed they covered the large Petro sign up. It looks like trucks are still parking there though.

They will not compete against each other as long as they are full. There are not many truck stops along I95 so they will definitely make out.
