I've been looking for a dry van trailer for the past few weeks, but most places are advising me to wait until February. I was wondering if you guys knew of any businesses that might have some trailers right now or in the near future. We are based in Columbus, Ohio and will accept trailers up to 500 miles away, but we are open to alternatives even if they are further out.

If I'm incorrect, please correct me, but we would like a plated dry van because there's a potential we might come across loads that are food grade. What would you suggest for maintenance? Do all the maintenance in-house or pay the mileage fee for the scheduled maintenance? And do you guys have a preferred trailer manufacturer?

The used market might be your best bet right now.

Which one, in your opinion, is the best option? I was able to locate a leasing company in Tennessee that offers a stoughton and utility trailer. According to their leasing, the difference is that the utility trailer has a psi tracker.

You'll have to take whatever you can get, wherever you can get it. The equipment market is in shambles right now. I shopped for a used van for a couple months recently. I check everywhere I could and there were some ok usable pieces to be had but either they were way over priced or sold before I could get to them. This is a bad time to be equipment shopping regardless if you're buying or renting/leasing.

It’s a great time to be selling used equipment!

We are gonna go with a 2021 Utility Dry Van it’s $1000 a month and we need the equipment.

Plated only means that they are a little wider on the interior. This allows you to haul loads like aluminum cans where they require a plated trailer. I owned one for a year and only needed it once. They are also not as sound and won’t last as long as non-plated trailers…just in case you decide to purchase one.

Yes it is! If you have the work and are getting the rate you need to justify the exorbitant expense then you do what you have to do. Those who can wait a year or so will have their pick of the litter once all the gold diggers and flunkies clap out.

Should make sure trailer has meritor type air inflation, air slide release, what is distance between logistic posts, air ride or spring, etc. Get your moneys worth.

I tried Bowman last year when I started. They said they work with new owners but after filling out application they said they don’t. Pretty annoying.

We applied with them a couple months after we got our own Authority but our business was incorporated for 10 years so I guess that’s why.

But if you need a dry van trailer right now I just found a company that leases to owner operators and they have a 2020 Stoughton ready to go just let me know!
