Is it an oldie like the 1980 @AModelCat has, or newer?

Read lots of your post, & it seems you have respect for your crew..
Is it still an option you can spec when ordering a new truck?
& would you trust your guys & gals to use it properly.?

Got to assume they OE's made it automatic now to take more control out of the driver's hand..

My doppelganger twoscrewshaker told me a tale..
Dropped some insulation at a sugar sand job site few months ago. Flipped interlock switch so he didn't get stuck. Got to the hard pack out of the way, proceeded to scan in paperwork so his old lady could invoice em, & looked over route to next load. Phone rings, rolls out..

Go load, drive some more, shut er down for a 10, quick post trip. Pre trip in the am. Heart sinks.. Left the dang interlock in for about 460 miles... Knuckleheads like him is why we can't have anything cool anymore..

I rather like the idea of being able to control it by flipping the switch. Have a bad feeling I'll be spending my fair share of time in the white stuff come winter..

 

I don’t want to get this thread political, but this morning I heard on the news that the oil reduction may possibly be in retaliation of the pipeline that got busted under the big water over there. Same news clip they played an old video from February where the now president said if Putin strikes Ukraine, the pipeline would be shut down. The reporter ask the president how that could be possible, and he responded trust me, we can do it. Makes ya wonder what all is going on….

 

Yeah I drive in the snow and ice quite often in the northeast and Upper Midwest in the winter. The front brake limit valves were the ABS of yesteryear for trucks. When the limit valves are in proper working order they actually work quite well. I drove my dad's 1986 Kenworth K100 without front brakes as a kid and it was an odd feeling. When he installed front brakes on it in 1990 he installed the limit valve and it worked great.

 

Well, you could ride down this way and help me figure out an air leak. All the blue tasties you can handle.... uhhh wait a minute here

 

My 89, and 92 have it, but only those 2.
Yes i do trust my drivers completely, if I didn't, they would have been let go already.
If you don't respect your staff, and they respect you, its not going to be a good situation for anyone, including the customers, because nobody cares much if they feel disrespected.
I am not the right employer for everyone, it takes the right person to work for me to.
But for the right person it's a good place to work.
Most training is also done by me, and they either know their stuff, and drive really well, work hard, work safe, or go find employment elsewhere.

 

By the way my oldest truck now is an 89.
