My dad is going back to take his skills test after failing the in cab portion of the pre trip inspection. This is his second attempt, and after this he’ll only have one more if something goes wrong before he’ll have to submit a new application. Does anyone know what the time around this process looks like? I’m assuming you can’t just immediately reapply for the license to take your test again. Does anyone also know if his permit would still be valid, or if he’d have to go through school again? I’ve tried to contact dps and have been unable to get ahold of anyone. I’ve also tried looking on the website and can’t find much info.

Not sure if something has changed but we had guys take the test more than 3 times at Texas DPS from my school. I think after the 3rd test they had to pay for extra hours but they got in within weeks of failing test. The wait was more due to lack of available appointments than some sort of rule.
