Very few can do it properly and its very labour intensive. Preheat, post heat, high nickle electrodes etc. Add in the constant heat cycling an exhaust manifold experiences and I have my doubts that it'll last long.

Myself I'd avoid the hassle and just replace the manifold. If the weld cracks again in 3 months then you've got to tear it all apart again and replace it.

Why weld it when it won’t last, just go for a used one.

Well you’re right about it not lasting, my point is it can be done and has been. I didn’t respond to the op, but the op needs to just replace it, because it has to be removed off the truck to weld anyway so might as well put a new one on.

Cast can be welded correctly by few, in high stress areas by fewer, and in extreme heat areas by none that i've seen.(weld yes, last no)

Oxbow, skallagrime, Boondock and 3 others Thank this.

Gotcha thanks for all the replies. It’s a small hairline crack but sucking a lot of air. How long before it mess something else up? Just wondering

Find a load home and get it fixed, it’s not a 911 but it’s not something to leave either

    Oxbow Thanks this.
