Changing oil pan gasket on a 12.7. Found this in the pan. Thrust washer maybe? Just had rear main seal changed. Part of the old seal maybe?
Help!! What is this?

Eeek!!!!

Definitely resembles a thrust washer. Can you see the thrust washers without removing the cap? Might be worth digging in a little bit just for peace of mind.singlescrewshaker, Dino soar, MartinFromBC and 3 others Thank this. -
Thats a thrust washer. Use a tire bar and try to push your balancer forward, then back. Or pry forward, and have someone push the clutch in while you watch balancer

You can see them. When it throws one it's usually the rear. Always wondered if it was because of folks backing into docks and riding the clutch.
Good thing to catch now, and may have been the cause of the rear main leaking.singlescrewshaker, Bean Jr., Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks. Getting new one now. My neighbors Truck. He says he can see now how to change upper and lower
Says it looks easy? I thought it was held by a main cap or something. If hate for him to ruin his engine.lwlevens and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
He'll have to drop the cap, and roll them in.

The way that thing looks i hope the sides of the crank and block are ok
Probably need a whole new main bearing because I doubt the notches it hooks onto on the bearing shell will hold it right
and at that point get a whole setsinglescrewshaker, Big Road Skateboard, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
Going to need to torque to spec I imagine. Any idea what torque value?singlescrewshaker Thanks this.

I was wondering how they’re held in. It’s pretty tire up. I’m guessing it’s much stronger than bearing material? Bearings probably damaged.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.
