KH, did they tell you this before orientation? I recall you sayin you had a date for several weeks ago.
Best of luck to you in your search.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

No, they told me on fourth day of orientation. I have been approved for Swift; they just need to find me a team partner.

Thank you for the quick response. What were some of your impressions of USX during the orientation process? Is their per diem optional or forced; how difficult was it to transition from manual to automatic during the road test; which backing manuever are they likely to test...anything useful you can think of.
Not long ago Givens, in Virginia Beach, was hiring recent graduates in the SE. Your detailed posts are appreciated. -
My impressions of the company USX are good. I am going to reapply for them in June. The hotel they put in is reasonable and you are close to three restaurants; a Wendy's, a Mexican restaurant, and some steak house. If it is nice out, you can walk to wal-mart and the chineese buffet. They have two locations for students; Tunnel Hill, GA and OH. If you go to USX, check to see which bus station gives you more flexibility. When I went home, I chose to go to Orlando versus Melbourne as I did not want to stay in orlando for a five hour layover. My dad came and got me at 445am.
My overall impression of the automatic is I liked it. I am going to give potential employee fair warning about orientation if you are not prepared; have your paperwork in order. Per a driver trainer, they do a very in depth background check. If you were in college, and need transcripts, get them. Get proof of employment as some employers will charge for this.
KHPoobah Thanks this. -
Windy Hill has recently hired 3 students from Florida Coast Career Tech (the vo-tech arm of Florida State College at Jacksonville formerly Florida Community College at Jacksonville.)
I started the conversation with Donna back in early October 2009 but she didn't have any available slots at the time but I told her that she really needs to take a look at the FSCJ program. She is now a regular visiting recruiter to the school.jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
Hey KH im glad that Werner had turned u down, i graduated from i got screwed up BIG by those crools motherf*&^%#s I waited 6 months (minimum) and jumped OUT of that ####. Like u, living in FL, when i finished school i got Werner and Covenant. Thats is it. My choice, Werner, wich i regret so big...
I hate werner. Swift? I don't know, but if you can get started with one O/O, i think it will be more valuable. You gonna eat a lot of crap going with those big motherf*&##&##s. I ate, you will eat...period.
But if is the only way, AMEM>
I think CR England doesn't hire from FL....
Whatever, best lucky for you there... -
I believe things happen for a reason. I may not be big on religion, but I do believe in that and hope. I know there is a job and it will come. If I need to take a refresher from RM; I will. If I need to move closer to Jacksonville or take a job out of state I will.
