I talked to Modular several years ago. They "used" to pay 100% of your healthcare benefits. I can't say if that is still in effect.

thats what i meant, just go the normal pay route, per diem only helps the company, not you......

why are you stalling at p i and i? do they still get free health insurance, or do you have to pay for it? what kind of retirement plan, 401 w/match, or pension?

hah, you just answered your own question, thats what is good about p i and i, "yes, they pay all of that". Most companies dont pay all of the insurance costs anymore, and a decent 401 or pension is hard to find as well. hell, i dont even get a match on my 401, so if they have a pension, i wouldn't be waiting around to go there.

It isn't that they are great, its the fact that MOST steelhauling jobs are going to try and screw you on the pay, and at pi and i, you can at least file a greivance. at modular if you have a pay dispute they won't care, as they don't have anyone looking over their shoulders at the payroll. And i have only started seeing modular trucks on the ohio pike, i have never heard of them, do they pay for your insurance, or give you a decent match on a 401 or a pension?

I run for LJ Kennedy, trust me, our equipment is beat to #### too, it just comes with the territory of running flatbed in the rust belt states, I have seen a few modular trucks, they dont look any better than P I and I trucks.

you dont think i have called them? i live up by buffalo, there arent many steel hauling gigs left up there, and the ones that are there arent hiring. trust me, i have bugged yourga, strimbu, and p i and i about jobs, and no one will hire me because no one is close. the closest pi and i yard to me is probably sharon pa, and thats over 3 hours away, and they wouldnt hire me. neither would strimbu, yourga thought about putting a yard in buffalo when path went under, but they put an ad in the paper and no one replied because people are dumb!! I tried to get them to take me anyway, but they didnt want to hire me when i had to drive that far to work at the beginning and end of the week.

trust me, if i was in a better area for steel, i would be at p i and i in a second. steel pays decent, they got good bennies, and if you are worried about the dot, run legal and inspect your truck.

what have you heard that is so good about modular? why go someplace that can screw you just as bad as ANYWHERE else and then you dont even have a greivance procedure for pay, and you have a crappier benefits package?
