due to this 2010 program company i work for is matching logs to the qualcomm. i do logs as i go but there are times paper and computer dont match perfectly..... am facing suspention if i do not make them match when i know paper is accurate and computer is off for some reason. sometimes when i am at terminal qualcomm shows i am 30 miles away. can they make me change the paper log to match qualcomm which could put me in violation of 11hr rule on some of the tighter runs...appreciate any advice on this...thks

The first thing to consider is that the qualcomm may not have the exact time of the terminal.

Second. I have always done the log based on the current time at the terminal based on a watch. If I am stopped, you must be able to show where the time comes from.

The exact location is where I log. I will use the gps to find the nearest city or the receipt of the place I am at. If you keep the receipt it is the proof.

I have never received a comment that said I was not where the truck is.

I have several company violation where my comdata fuel card is off from my logbook by 2 hours. The weird thing is I use my computer which is set at central time zone, always the same as my watch as well. This is why all the computer stuff scares me, it isn't infallible like they try to claim.

I probably drive for the same co. as you do boomer99, and I worry about the same thing. I have been logging off duty after I get unloaded (is what my DM told me to do when I was in the developmental fleet) They just told me while it is legal, it is against company pollicy, and now I have a log violation against me. I just wonder what I will do next time my 14 hr runs out while I'm getting unloaded. I'm sorry if you need your dock space back, but I can't move my truck.

What happens when the EOBR's are tied into the ECM's????

You run out of time...the truck shuts down or won't start back up again until you have taken your "10".....

I understand what you are saying on running out of hours and such WCP, but what do you do when you have accurately recorded fuel stops only to have a computer tied to the card buying your fuel report another time? I can understand a 15 minute violation, but these are showing 2 hours difference.

I don't have a computer set-up....That's one thing I hope the FMCSA doesn't require from the "Single Pony" O/O's.....

Most of the time I fuel up at a "Card-Lock" type of facility......
Very rarely do I fill-up at an actual truck stop....

If I need a shower and a truck stop is in my network, then I do fill-up since the shower would be free....Then I get a receipt...

Do you see my problem though with all of these regulations though for the common driver. I don't claim to be perfect, and I at times do "work" my logbook. However, I know how much we are tracked so I make sure things such as fuelstops are always accurate. Even with that though I am still shown in violation. Technology can be great, but it can screw us too.

Are you guys POSITIVE you have your qualcom set to the correct time zones so everything is on the same page? If you're getting 2 or 3 or whatever full hour differences between your log and the qualcom I'd bet money your looking at the wrong time zone of your qualcom or its displaying the wrong zone.

    Am I making any sense???:biggrin_25526:

Do you keep your qualcom set at whatever time zone you start from and leave it in that time zone? If not you will be off full hours from your paper logs and fuel receipts.
