“The guy was actually asleep in his truck on the shoulder of the road waiting on a wrecker and a box truck collided with him, causing fire,”

Would things have turned out differently if he was awake in the truck?

    Ok. Whatever.
Sure, his tanks were punctured, or not.
Or not. You don't even know that.
    Whatever, dude.
A once in a lifetime fail makes an exception for fools.

So tired of truckers parking on the shoulder.

In my case, it was a break chamber that blew out. I was lucky to make it to the shoulder. I did leave some nice skid marks though.

Bizzarrogeorge, Opus and mjd4277 Thank this.

yeah, have to let the truck know where you want it to break down. o_O. must a new option on these new trucks I never saw.

I've crawled in the sleeper many times, while broke down on the side of the road.

You don’t know the driver’s circumstances either!
And yet you’re assuming that the driver parked on the shoulder illegally when the article clearly states that the driver was waiting on a tow truck, which indicates the truck was disabled to that point.
