I've been trying to obtain my class A license for over a year now. I have my permit I have completed the ELDT courses and now I'm stuck. I have a family and a full time job and I'm the only one working. I'm having trouble finding grants or financial aid and my permit will expire in about 4 months.
Are there ways to have cdl school paid for?
I can't afford CDL school

Roehl Transport pay students $616.00 weekly while attending cdl school.
A neighbor of mine went through the program and said the $616.00 a week is the real deal.
CDL Training (Paid) & Truck Driving Schools | Roehl.Jobs
What To Expect with Roehl’s Get Your CDL™ Driver Training Program
Phase One of Roehl’s CDL training program includes three weeks of training where you earn $616 when you work a full week. You’ll get your first paycheck at the end of your third week. You’ll be training in the same types of trucks and trailers that you’ll be driving. Training covers basic controls, vehicle inspections, speed management, turning, docking, hazard prevention, accident procedures, etc.
Phase Two is on-the-job training where you’ll go out with a Certified Driver Trainer and work with live freight. You’ll sleep in the truck at truck stops just like you would on the job. Your trainer will provide feedback and teach you as you go along. You'll earn $112 a day while out with a trainer.
Phase Three is when you get your own truck and you’ll be paid a mileage rate based on the fleet you select. In this last phase, you’ll work with a fleet training manager that you’ll talk to by phone each day. This manager will help you master the finer points of the job. Your weekly pay will be determined by how many miles you drive that week, and you’ll receive your paycheck the week after you complete the work. You’ll be on your way to earning $70,000 or more!

Go up to where they give the test and see if there might be a place there that has a truck for you to test in. I know where I live there is a guy that sits at the testing facility and charge’s 500$ to use his truck, no school just hop in his truck and test.

You have a job. If it’s really that important to you, buckle down, work overtime or a second job, scrape together the money and take the test. You have the hard part done.

US Army has a 88M program that you may want to apply for. The Marines has a similar program but it comes with workplace violence.
Some here on the forum have gone that route and done well.Another Canadian driver, Coover and austinmike Thank this. -
See if your current job offers tuition assistance to help pay for it.
That's how I got mine, had worked at Amazon for 5 years and they started promoting the CDL course at a local community college and paying 90% of it. This was before they had their own semis and delivery trucks so figure they were just testing stuff outAnother Canadian driver and Concorde Thank this. -
Yellow has courses that pay you while you learn. And then you have a job when you pass.
