I just got out of an 02 Century and into a 379. When it comes to ride it's night and day. I've heard you can get volvos with air ride on the steer though, I bet that's pretty nice.
Volvo really that great?

yes , i know about the white gmc. i sometimes forget they aren't volvos. and i stand corrected about the volvos with the volvo motors. from all i have heard they are s***. i was just trying to make the point that if you start out with a good base, with the right specs for what you are doing, regardless of nameplate, you can have a good dependable truck. i had probably the worst w9 ever made years ago. she was ancient for her age and mileage. stuff broke and wore out that shouldn't have in 2 million miles.but kw makes some of the best trucks on the road. my 359 has something like 4.56 rears, not really suited to regional haul. right specs for something else. as in anything, the right thing for the right thing is priceless , the wrong thing for the wrong thing is also priceless and a never ending money pit.

Over the years, we drove several different Columbias and two different Volvo models. There is simply no comparison on the ride -- Volvo wins hands down. In the Volvo I can sleep soundly on highways that I could barely even catnap on in the Freightliners.
Obviously, good sleep while moving is crucial on team runs so we had planned to buy a Volvo when we became O/O. But you know what? We're not. We're buying a shaker because we just can't justify the extra expense of buying the Volvo.
At the same time, we're going to be in control of our loads and able to schedule some time off at the end of a long run if we weren't able to sleep well in-route. We wouldn't even consider hiring on as company drivers to run team loads unless the truck was a Volvo or had that awesome cab kit suspension thing on it.
Kinda hypocritical I know, but there you have it. Volvos are awesome team trucks especially if one of the team has trouble sleeping while the truck is moving.
