That's weird...I don't have any noise at all on mine when the motors running...sounds the same engine running or not...
One thing I did tho was before sticking it in the dash, I always attach a ground braid to one of the case's lid screws, and the other end is grounded under the dash. One thing I can't stand is a whiny radio...On my Suburban when I had it, it had some whiny issues, never could figure out if it was coming from the fuel pump, alternator, or what. But after running ground straps off just about every part of the truck I could think of, the noise finally went away...not sure which ground strap was the magic-bullet but problem got solved.

I don't own this radio, but my thoughts about the PA problem, would be to try turning down the mic gain and see if that helps, if you haven't already tried it.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

I was having the engine whine problem with my Cobra 25lx. It worked fine in my old 2000 silverado, I just had it plugged into the cigarette power plug on the dash. Then last fall I bought a 2008 silverado and installed it the same way as my old pickup, but it had the alternator whine in it. So I took the time to run my power cord directly to the battery. To my disappointment it didn't make any difference. After a few months I was getting tired of the whine, so I bought a NF102 noise filter for around $8 on ebay.

I was kind of skeptic if it would work, but to my surprise the noise is gone now. It has a max 10 amp handling capacity. But that shouldn't be a problem with the KcKinley radio.Another Canadian driver, jessejamesdallas and wolverine11 Thank this. -
Does anyone hear a high pitched tone emanating from the radio? Like your sitting next to an old tube TV.
Seems to be more prevalent on AM.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Double-check tightness of all connections.
1). Navone 700 or Palomar 12V noise filters.
2). A DSP Speaker.
West Mountain or BHI.
Consider them mandatory. Any mobile radio.

Random question. I am a teacher and my kids came across the President McKinley CB. We can't seem to find any info on if this piece of equipment is named after President William McKinley. Can any of you provide us any information?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Yes, President Electronics, a company based in France, names a lot of their radios after American presidents. The McKinley and the Lincoln are two that I can think of off the top of my head.
