Not every one would agree with that! I once got a bill w/o insurance for a procedure that was covered under insurance, it was about half what they charged my insurance company. So, I submitted the bill to my insurance and they picked up the whole bill. Just let me say that they covered my copays as that was less than what was originally submitted to them by the hospital and saved them a ton of money. MY point is that if you don't have insurance the hospital will work with u and lower the bill if you will just talk to them and ask.

So in general would you say that freight has started to pick back up from early last year? Aso we would be going company.
-
No I would not say 6000 is average. Lets crunch some numbers.
Before anyone says my numbers are lower because I was training... thats BS because I did have A week over 6k (6466 miles) and that was the 2nd full week out with my trainee... it was also the only week over 6k for the 52488 dispatched miles we were together. (He had a 10k credit as PSD student so that gave him 60k)
We were together 13 weeks. He took 4 days at home, I took 4 days at home. We were given an extra day off in CA by my FM because there was no load and my FM knew my parents lived nearby.
If I generously factor 11 weeks into 52488 its an average of 4711/week.
The best 4 week run was 19495... thats only slightly better at 4873/week
Emton can back me up, he is here on the site and checks in once in awhile. We werent slackers and if we had the hours we would try and deliver early.
These numbers are roughly from Late Aug to almost Thanksgiving in Nov.
I cant speak for L/O teams. But Company isnt necessarily Coast to Coast runs... While we did have some Coaster runs, alot of loads were appointment based... too far for a solo to do in one shift... or solo possible for the first delivery, but impossible for the second etc.
Company trainer is getting about a 70 split vs. 50.... so the money is pretty good.
Im picking up another trainee next week and we'll see. -
Gotta agree with U2. 6000 seems high for an average. Our numbers certainly were not that high, and U2 was very aggressive
about delivering early when possible. He was also very good at managing our time
, getting us new 70s whenever time allowed etc. We had more than a few solo loads
, but of course, as a team, you're ready to reload right away
. We ran pretty steady and I think it would be a stretch to average 6000 miles in our less than perfect world. But hey, I'm a rookie... What the heck do I know?
Good luck with the new trainee U2!

Thanks U2EXIT and emton
,
Fron reading around on here and else where 6000 seemed like a pretty high average. U2 do you like running team or solo better? -
I like training. Mainly cuz I can take a break and go solo after a couple months. Training pay is good and Im still in charge.
Even with the miles I qouted.... the pay, if I was an equal split, is roughly what I make now, but is it worth the hassle?
You really have to find a teamate on your own... I asked once, and my FM says he puts the word out to other FMs but he's never had anyone match up that way... He said typically guys meet up in ther terminal or on the road when they decide to team.
There is a team bonus... its .10/mile for every mile over 3500... the caveat is that its calculated for miles completed that week from Fri-Thurs (Or Sat-Fri, I cant remember)... its odd where as our regular pay is calculated from all trips turned in before Tues cutoff at 1600.
So you could complete 5000 miles and turned in but the bonus only applies for every mile over 3500 that was completed and turned in that window I mentioned. using that window, some of the miles from your previous check and some of the current check are used to calculate that bonus.
Next time I am in the terminal I will try and remember to ask why its so complicated. -
The last time I teamed was when I was training with a lease op - the last part of '07. At that time as I recall, we were averaging above 5500 miles, with as many as 7000 in a week. Now, freight was stronger, and this was a lease-op truck.

Hey everyone I'm really relieved I passed my CDL permit test on Wednesday now I can start orientation a step ahead of the game. Does anyone know the availability of trainers at SpringMo after orientation? Or are people waiting for a trainer very long. I start orientation on Feb. 23 Do ironpony or U2Exit have any advise, I like your comments, you guys seem to be putting very good info out there. Thx.

Hey all,
I'm thinking about going with Prime as a company driver. I do not have a CDL or permit yet. Would it be better for me to get my permit in my home state before trying to get into Prime's training? Also, I live in SC just south (about 10 miles) of Charlotte, NC. Reasonably close to interstates 77 and 85. Would this work to my advantage in getting home time with Prime? Thanks... -
I had a trainee on thru the end of December, and my miles were averaging just over 5000 a week on a lease truck.
