Shoulder Tragedy TX. Different but the same.

Whats the point of this. The article explains in detail how it is LEGAL to park on a shoulder during emergency/ breakdown events per gubment regulations that have been around since the 1950’s.
The news article that was posted in this thread is about this type of LEGAL situation. The “supertrucker” and tow man were perfectly LEGAL to be there. The truck that hit them was not. It broke the slow down, move over law that Texas has.

 

There is legal and there is right. The two often are at odds.

The trucks in front of you did what. Giving me enough information to safely say you had no need to cut anyone off. If you didn’t have enough time to pedal and brake you were following too close to begin with. My guess is you were being too lazy to kick the speed down and have to reset you cruise controll back when traffic got sorted again. Maybe you were just too buisy cursing and calling that driver a super trucker to figure out a better solution to the situation? Might want to start looking in the mirror every time you use that term supertrucker from now on!

 

Who exactly said shoulder parking is ok in all situations? Seems some supertruckers still make huge assumptions and add words to what others have written, then want to call others idiots!

 

I’m not sure I saw anyone say that exactly, per se. BUT….next time you drive I-40, count how many trucks are parked on the shoulder with no triangles out, and the curtains pulled. Several times I have had one of those Bakersfield Reefer outfit drivers blow my doors off repeatedly, only to dive onto the shoulder a mile or so ahead. There have been times I see a truck fly across the end of an ON-RAMP to park on the shoulder past the ramp and piss in the highway within sight of a truck stop. It’s almost always the same crowd…the ones that park AT the pump for their 30 minute breaks and showers. Seems that a lot of folks run until the ELD is down to the last few minutes and just park right where they are when they run out of time.

 

There are 2 different issues. People should not park in the breakdown lane and people should not hit vehicles in the breakdown lane. That somebody did the first does not give somebody the right to do the second.

 

Where EXACTLY didnyou read in my statement that I even came close to arguing that hitting a truck parked on the shoulder was acceptable? Can we agree that parking on the shoulder for ANY reason other than an actual emergency is stupid, AND hitting a parked vehicle because you depart your lane is also stupid?
