He did radio from one of my drivers a few years ago. I was supervisor over a small dump truck company at the time and we were hauling rock out of the Kings Mountian quarry there off of ex 8 on I85. We were taking lunch and one of the guys went down to ex 5 and had him do up a cobra 29,swing kit and echo board. Before the driver did this his radio sounded fine but afterwards you could not understand anything the guy said. After work he went back to the cb shop and told the guy the radio was over modulated so bad no one could understand him. The tech told him it was because everyone elses receive was turned up to high and causing him to "sound like" the radio was over modulated. The tech refused to check the guys radio out and sent him out the door.

I took the radio home and it was keying .25 of a watt and modulating to 30 so its no wonder it sounded like crap. I changed a few things and got his key up to around 5 watts,fixed the echo board which had a full 13.9 volts going to it rather than the recomended 8.0 volts,retuned the radio to where it was doing 5 to 24 watts and it sounded fine.

The guy charged him $100.00 to $*&! up his radio
