I have my TWIC, passport & all endorsements on CDL, paid for everything myself, consider it a worthwhile investment in my career.

The chemical plants as well as the ports are suppose to be requiring the TWIC to access their properties.

TSA just did an audit at the plant my brother works in & told the company they were out of compliance since they hadn't required their workers to get them (TWIC) yet. The company didn't seem to think they were required.

Better to be over qualified than under qualified, especially in this economy & job market.

Passports do not require fingerprints, however, your birth certificate has to be mailed in and god knows what they do to it. They probably dust it for fingerprints! LOL. I got mad when i got my passport because i got it back and my birth certificate wasnt in there. Then i found a note in the envelope that said it'd be mailed seperately!

The big brother watching me card, oops I mean the twic.
Twic is seperate from anything else. their is a chip in it and if the place your at is really set up for twic and you scan your card and put your pin# in then it activates their crap and is capable of tracking you on their property up to 200 yards, so thats what top secret twic man told me. I run three, four states in midwest and only been asked for it at three places, two were at marathons, baycity,mi amd marathon asphalt cleveland and these rule craving ######## will make you use it.
I also have to show it at kinder morgan in argo, ill but their not set up for it.
twic will soon be the replacement of our drivers license, no proof just an opinion

here's the stupid part of the TWIC card, I live in Colo., the nearest place me to go and get one is KC or St. Louis, no other location nearby. So far we haven't needed it, but this is ridiculous, if these chemical plants are going to be requiring it, then what? we have several that we go to, how will the workers and the rest of us get them if there is no place nearbly. I've even called TSA about it, I get the "mental headscratching" of the person on the other end when I pose that question to them, and then they take my name and number and tell me someone will call me back.

One more crazy story. Mexican car haulers have TWIC cards. Toyota has a plant in Tecate, MX. They build the Tacoma truck there. The Mexican car hauling company brings those trucks from the plant to the port in San Diego where the American hauler gets it.

Really alot of companies are starting to require driver's to have a twic card because some of they're freight comes from the port so it's good to have for your cdl career you never know what you wiil want to apply for that requires it, also it's good for 5 years .
