Keep us posted on how things are going. We haven't had an orientation and onboarding thread about IRT in a long time.
If you can. add it on to this thread so it will be easier for everyone to find.
There are two IRT trucks that use our drop yard for parking on their time off. Both drivers have been with IRT for a while and both of them speak highly of it. They both say that it's not a huge amount of money but it's steady, the equipment is good, the work easy, and the company treats you fair.

I was just reading this thread because I live in Winter Haven and see that you are going to come on board. I wish you all the best in this new venture as you deserve it and have earned it. Abilene's loss will be positive for IBT. I look forward to your continued great posts and maybe we can meet someday. We stay just down the road from their yard.

 

They’ve upped their pay quite a bit. They offer things for me that are priceless. January 4th is my scheduled orientation. I’ve done my due diligence, researched, spoke with a few of their drivers, and feel right now at the end of my career, this will be a good fit. I will, when it’s time, start a new thread if it’s acceptable to the drivers that post here, and the mods.

There isn't a whole lot to the orientation. It's a one day deal, watch a bunch of videos, fill out a ton of paperwork, feed your face with Hungry Howies then a quick 15-20 min test drive before being assigned your truck. This is primarily a no touch operation so there is no tank training offered. I suppose if you being hired to run one of the few pump trucks then that would be different.

I drove my car to Winter Haven, they offered to pay for my gas, but I didn't think to save the receipt. I wasn't that worried about the $20 anyway. The other guys in my orientation got rental cars that the company covered. I couldn't offer any info on airport pickups etc though I recall someone from Oakley saying the same shuttle picked him up also serviced IRT. That isn't firsthand info though.

They put me up in a hotel about 15 miles away. There are a bunch of hotels closer but this was June 2020 when we were in the grips of lockdown so maybe that was a factor.

I had a med card that was only a few months old so I didn't have to get a new one. For smooth sailing I would suggest getting a new one before applying if you only have a few months left on yours.
