I'm sure her settlement will more than make up for her suffering.

It's not the extent of the injuries that have me upset about this. It's the fact that it COULD have been much, much worse, and the guard, by company policy, was only allowed to "observe and report". Meanwhile, he could have very easily been forced to watch the murder of another human being.

Good for you Sebo. To many do nothing. I don't just mean "protecting women" I mean to many men and women do nothing when we see wrong being committed.

I think our society has become too calloused to these problems Nana. Also, there are too many people who think "what if_____" and their logic keeps them from jumping to action. I am not justifying what the man did, and while I BELIEVE I would go to help the person I can't say for sure especially if my duty says I can't. At this economic time the guard may have been WANTING to help, but knew if he did he would possibly be terminated.

Consider the Wal-Mart employee a few months ago who caught a guy shoplifting and chased him out of the store. You and I consider him to have done the right thing in protecting the store from theft, Wal-Mart on the other hand fired him.

Like I said I don't want to justify not helping a person out, but there are circumstances that we can't be fully aware of through just a news story. Now the mall cop should be laid down in the street and his head curb stomped to help put an end to stupidity.

I don't know if I do think that greeter at Wal-Mart was right in what he did. At first I did.......but tapes show that he used a clip board to smack the customer. He struck the first blow. I realize and agree the customer shhould have stopped and had his packages checked BUT.......did the greeter have the right to smack him with a clipboard?

*sighs* It's so hard to decide without all the inside info.

I actually think about the McDonald's employee who prevented a woman from being beaten, was shot, called a hero and then denied benefits and was fired because policy is to not get involved.

We all come to this forum with our opinions; and that is wonderful even if we do sometimes get overcome with passion and bash each other about. It's GOOD to voice opinions especially if we'll consider another's view because we'll perhaps learn. But....it's our opinions based almost never on all the true facts.

I do agree with you wolfie......that society has become numb to violence.

It's seems people forget that evil flourishes when good men (and women) do nothing.

Nana that's the problem is men and women who do good deeds are now looked upon as meddlesome (sp?) when they choose to act, and at the same time they are looked at cowardly and indecisive if they choose not to. We truly live in a world full of no win situations that is becoming sadder by the day.
