Man I thought my 400 a day was tough, take Fridays off when you feel overworked. We need you for the long haul.

That would be pretty hard job to walk away from. They really hook you up with the pay, benefits, pension, etc. You'd really have to be killing it as an owner-op and work your butt off to match what a top Buster Brown guy makes, when you factor it all in.

 

Plus, the continued attempts at reducing those bennies, among other things. I’m convinced, with each new thing mgmt try, their goal is to reduce driving positions to as close to minimum wage as they can get them. I’m disgusted, everytime I see a TForce truck.

 

Politics and favoritism wasn’t an issue with a Union Job in my 27 years of union experience. You are definitely correct that it doesn’t always come down to money. 99.99 percent of the people I would definitely not recommend they walk away from the job like I did. It was a lot of little reasons for me and control of my destiny was top. Not that I need it financially to survive, but my personal goals wouldn’t allow me to make less than a top Buster driver as I never go backwards long term. Fortunately my wife has good insurance that I am on at no cost. Everyone is definitely different and being an owner op isn’t for everyone. It is definitely for me.
