So I have my own authority, insurance, plates, etc, but want to sign on with another carrier. I'm being told that I have to cancel my MC and basically everything in order to legally sign on to another carrier. This doesn't seem right to me. Anyone have experience with this?

Why did you do all that if you were looking to lease on?

I want to get back into oilfield work and the contracts are locked down, so the only way is to lease on to somebody that already has the contract.

Looks like I won't be getting back into the oilfield if I have to end my own business.

    Yes
You have to run their numbers

You can put yours on pause (inactive) and it won’t really matter as you have new numbers anyways

    UItraman Thanks this.

Well pausing is better than ending. Which isn't a big deal, but that also leave IFTA, IRP, etc-

I guess I wasn't expecting the headache the government was wanting to give for simply leasing onto another carrier.

I have 3 dot numbers paused and have been for years
I run my own plates and pay for my own insurance on my truck through OOIDA

Run their numbers, cargo Ins, comp, and flag

    UItraman and singlescrewshaker Thank this.
