I’m just wondering if this slow down i’m seeing at my mega carrier is just my company or canada/us wide . I lost my first shift being sunday do to no work and got a email today asking if I wanted to take the day off . Which I replied no I want to work as I already lost my first shift . Out of the 4 guys who work nights i’m the only guy in today . Every night this week the corridor drivers have been camping out here in Mississauga because of no loads

Any one else a slow down at their company

Probably not going to have the usual holiday rush this year. Recession is happening it will get worse into next year.

I know it’s coming but i’m really hoping it’s not going to be as bad as everyone is saying it will be . Maybe I should take that garbage hauling gig ,at least it should be recession proof

My first job was hauling garbage to Michigan. After Christmas even the garbage got slow. Went from going to Michigan every day to going to Niagara Falls NY twice a day.

FTL Van/Reefer is basically over, we're prob 95% LTL we build off our docks now. Daycabs are getting rotating days off, LCV are waiting 12 hours for B Box's, it's going to get BAD. They're starting to look at office staff, and slip seating has been mentioned for company units. Canada only O/O's that won't go to BC are being let go.

2008, 2015, 2019 now 2022. These economic disasters are really starting to get close together!

We had our normal slowdown after the summer but nothing out of the ordinary. Every driver at MB is guaranteed at least 40 hours pay a week whether they work that much or not. Don’t think they’ll lay anyone off.

On the US side I've seen last week at least we couldn't find any loads from NJ up into New England. It's a rare thing to deadhead 6 hours twice in one week.

Yup it is hitting hard - basically rates are not sustainable to run the business - not sure how smaller companies will survive

They won't. Alot of companies will need to shut the doors before rates improve.

Companies will operate at a small loss to break even just to hold onto their customers and the ones that can survive the longest will be around when rates improve.

We will see this in the new year. This holiday season will not give the rush and increase in rates we are use to seeing. After new years it will get really bad.
