Hey all,
Wanted to get some opinions on a situation I just had, I booked a load with a broker that I've pulled MULTIPLE loads for in the past, in this instance I booked a load going from AZ to OR on a Wednesday but the load does not pickup until Saturday. After accepting the load I had a change of thought and decided I wanted to keep heading East instead of back towards home (WA). I emailed the broker within 3hrs of booking the load stating such and if he can please remove it ( I figured I was still within a good time frame to cancel since this load does not pick up for another two days). The broker replied with reporting me to freight guard for "cancelling for no reason" and not allowing me to book with them anymore. Does this seem excessive or am I in the wrong here?

So in their eyes the multiple loads you pulled without issue I'm assuming mean absolutely nothing to them and you are replaceable, especially these days, but they feel the need to "punish" or "threaten" you as they kick you out the door. F'em, don't even look back. There was a good chance they would even cancel on you with it being booked 3 days in advance, telling you the load "cancelled", when in fact they gave it to someone cheaper because they had time to do so.

I don't care so much for them kicking us out the door but the freightguard is what I am worried about. About to have a BS report that I can't do anything about when I was being straight forward with the guy especially with rates being so low right now and fuel still high... had I made up a BS story about my truck breaking down or having problems with my current load, everything would've been fine for them to pull the load?

Just keep moving forward. If there is a way to post a rebuttal, do so, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
RJM1953 Thanks this. -
If you signed an agreement to accept the load, then you should commit to it. You might think that person's time is not valuable, but it's still not right to waste their time, plus anyone else who might have been interested in booking the load.

We probably get a broker yelling about black listing us or posting a freight guard review maybe a couple of times a year. Never actually had one posted yet. It’s just a scare tactic. This is usually because of broker errors though, such as shipper doesn’t have product, etc. if you book a load you cannot cancel that looks really bad.

A good rule of thumb in this type of situation is to tell the broker that you broke down, and your truck will be down for a few days as they have to order parts.

Tell them u will report them to brokerguard
